Nicole Shearer is a Children’s Storybook Author whose professional life has been closely connected with children, their development and the importance of nurturing their early experiences.
Nicole’s career has included working as a Mothercraft Nurse, Childcare Centre Operator and Validator, giving her many years of experience observing, supporting and caring for children during their formative years. These experiences have given Nicole a deep appreciation for the imagination, curiosity and sense of wonder that make childhood so special.
Her approach to storytelling is influenced by the small moments that children remember and cherish. A walk through the neighbourhood, the excitement of discovering something special, the kindness of an adult or the anticipation of a favourite treat can become lasting childhood memories.
Nicole’s writing aims to capture these moments in a way that feels warm, familiar and engaging for young readers, while also bringing parents and grandparents back to memories of their own childhood.
In Sherbet, Nicole brings readers into a nostalgic Australian summer, following Niki and Mim as they make their way through eucalyptus-lined streets toward a colourful lolly shop. The story combines friendship, anticipation, sensory details and childhood excitement, creating a world where an ordinary afternoon becomes a treasured adventure.
As Nicole continues her journey as a Children’s Storybook Author, she hopes to create stories that encourage children to enjoy the simple pleasures of childhood, use their imagination and create memories that stay with them long after the final page.
